I Be!

SO today is a blast from the past! I wrote this blog while we were living in Mexico 7 years ago. Lately, I have been reminded of this day! I realized I still want to BE! Jim had written a letter to our partners & he made the statement “God is desiring for the Church to BE His house of prayer!” My Blog from 7 years ago...

"Now obviously if we are here in Mexico starting a house of prayer I have heard this statement a hundred times, but TODAY I really heard something that got me searching... so join me on a little journey looking at the tiny word “be”. For those not familiar with how often God mentions the concept of a House of Prayer, I've added a list at the end.

Often, God Himself declares, "I AM" is seeking a HOUSE that “BE” His House...

But for now, I want to take you on my journey today...

TODAY I want to just say "I BE!" If the Creator of the Universe is I AM then I BE! I was reading Jim’s words & thought wow... be!!

WOW!!! BE!!! we are to BE His House of Prayer! So what does that entail? BE, according to the dictionary has many facets. But let’s explore some grammar issues 1st... the present form of the verb “BE” is AM... which is cool since God said I AM... then BE is the present subjective, consider this a grammar lesson on a 1st-grade level, no thesis... YET! I will not go into the present subjective “real” meaning... but ask you to consider... The root of subjective is “subject” as in brought under. WOW!! I BE because God Almighty is the Great I AM...

I AM, as in right now, present, here... GOD WITH US & I BE brought under His thoughts, His desires, His WORD! (how is that for a 22-word thesis?)

Isn’t this thought to provoke?! THIS WAS A GOD MOMENT!! He drew me to a place of saying look at the verb BE today! What a journey! I BE because He is I AM! I am brought under & dwelling in the secret place of the Most High... under the shadow of His wings (ALL of Ps 91).

This is HUGE as I looked to Colossians 1:9-12 (I especially love that Paul writes in long sentences like someone else I know :)

“9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may BE filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.”

This list of scriptures could go on & on & on!!

God Almighty did not say I was, or WE (The Trinity) were... meaning I use to be powerful... yesterday, or way back then!

When Moses asked The Lord who do I say sent me to free the Children of Israel from Egypt? (Exodus 3:14) The Creator of the Universe, God Almighty, The Covenant Maker, The God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob gave an answer using a new name... “I AM”. We can all ponder that one name for all of eternity & not grasp it in its fullness.

So back to this definition of BE, a few words that popped up: exist, present, occur, take place, occupy a position in space, stay in the same place or condition, attend, come, go, visit... and the end is my favorite: having the state, quality, identity, nature, role!! I am thinking I AM knew exactly what He was saying when He chose the BE verb to describe Himself!!!

So if The Creator of the Universe is I AM... then I am so desiring to BE walking in a state, quality, identity, nature, role of I BE being brought under I AM!

And if that is not good enough... when we add “to”... these 2 tiny simple words together... WOW, the possibilities... because TO BE opens the door for me to not be there yet.. but wow I TO BE JUST LIKE I AM!

Trust me on this one, I am confessing daily I BE JUST LIKE I AM!

So TODAY...

I AM has said He desires A house of PRAYER & I BE ready to join Him in that venture!!

Kind of makes you wonder if William Shakespeare was a bit prophetic when he pinned his famous words... “To BE or not to BE? That IS the question?” Today I am thinking that is the only question we need to be pondering when we look to a lost & dying world...

Just a few House of prayer scriptures: Isaiah 56:7, Mark 11:17, Psalm 27:4, 1 Chronicles 16 especially verses 1,4,37, Isaiah 2:3, For us personally Isaiah 66 & 5.
